Curious about Student Ministry and looking for an entry point?  This is it! IMPACT is our weekly fellowship for youth in 6th through 12th grade. There is time for fellowship, creative games, and a lesson each evening.  It’s a non-pressure-super-awesome-good-time-for-everyone-program.

Join other mission-minded youth for fellowship each Sunday from 4 p.m. to  5:30 p.m. in Aldersgate’s Student Ministry Center. You won’t be disappointed!

Volunteers Needed

Adult volunteers are crucial to our program, and without them we can not follow safe sanctuary. As a volunteer you're not required to teach, but to simply spend an evening hanging out with the youth ministry at Aldersgate. You're welcome to join us for our games and lesson. Most importantly, you make a huge difference in the lives of our students at Aldersgate.

YOUTH Sunday School

Youth Sunday School gives us a unique opportunity for us to connect with teens. We take the opportunity to help students explore how the truths of God’s Word connect with the issues that they are dealing with in their lives. Most weeks our lessons discuss that week's liturgical scripture. We divide our Sunday school by age (Middle School and High School) and dig deep into hot topics.  Read Aldersgate’s Safe Sanctuary covenant.

Student Missions

Our Student ministry believes that mission work is an extremely important aspect of ministry. Every year our students take part in a large mission trip during the Summer.  In July 2012 we attended Week of Hope in Newark, NY. In 2013 we served in Jamaica through Praying Pelican Missions. In 2014 we served in Spirit Lake, ND alongside UMC missionaries. In 2015, we served in Manassas, VA with Group, and in 2016 we served in the Bahamas with Praying Pelican.

We also spend time servng the community of Wilmington and New Castle county in many ways.
- Every year around Christmas we have a homeless simulation in the church parking lot called "homeless for the holidays".
- We support and serve the Sunday Breakfast Mission in downtown Wilmington.
- Our church, along with other churches in the community, house families through the partnership of churches called Family Promise.
- We prepare and serve the midday meal to hundreds of hungry people in need at Emmanuel Dining Room several times throughout the year.

Aldersgate’s confirmation program is designed for 7th graders and above to explore the Christian Faith within the United Methodist tradition.  Confirmation gives students the opportunity to learn about their faith and to continue the process of making it their own. In addition to weekly sessions, confirmation students are involved in off-site trips, outreach projects and other activities.  At the end of the instruction period, confirmands are invited into membership of the church.
